OpenAI releases GPT-4o, a faster model thats free for all ChatGPT users

It is not currently known if video can also be used in this same way. OpenAI demonstrated a feature of GPT-4o that could be a game changer for the global travel industry — live voice translation. Beyond the search capabilities that the standard Bing search engine already has, Copilot is a full-fledged AI chatbot that can do many things similar to tools such as ChatGPT. Both Copilot and ChatGPT, for example, can generate text, such as an essay or a poem, write code, or ask complex questions and hold a conversation with follow-up questions. Like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot can generate text conversationally, compose essays, create letters, summarize content, write code, and answer complex questions. It also has internet access, allowing it to provide up-to-date responses on current events — something the free version of ChatGPT lacked until recently.

Alongside this, rumors are pointing towards GPT-5 shifting from a chatbot to an agent. This would make it an actual assistant to you, as it will be able to connect to different services and perform real-world actions. It’s being reported that the Cupertino crew is close to a deal with OpenAI, which will allow for «ChatGPT features in Apple’s iOS 18.» In terms of how this is executed, we’re not sure. It could be anything from keeping ChatGPT as a separate third-party app and giving it more access to the iOS backend, to actually replacing Siri with it. That refers to the process of creating and integrating a chat extension within VS Code’s Copilot Chat architecture.

OpenAI released a new Read Aloud feature for the web version of ChatGPT as well as the iOS and Android apps. Earlier this week OpenAI launched GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”), a new version of the artificial intelligence (AI) system powering the popular ChatGPT chatbot. GPT-4o is promoted as a step towards more natural engagement with AI. According to the demonstration video, it can have voice conversations with users in near real-time, exhibiting human-like personality and behaviour. The new chatbot represents OpenAI’s push into a new generation of AI-powered voice assistants in the vein of Siri and Alexa, but with far more capabilities to enable more natural, fluent conversations. The new ChatGPT voice bot can tell what different tones of voice convey, responds to interruptions, and reply to queries in real time.

The voice assistant is incredible and if it is even close to as good as the demo this will be a new way to interact with AI, replacing text. They started by asking it to create a story and had it attempt different voices including a robotic sound, a singing voice and with intense drama. You don’t have to wait for it to finish talking either, you can just interrupt in real time.
